Seems to be a coming together of various fan groups in protest at Ashley's ownership. In principle a good thing surely, let's hope it goes somewhere. Can't see any specifics on who's behind it other than the titles of the various groups (True Faith, AshleyOut.com, ToonNetwork, NUST, NUFC Fans United, #IfRafaGoesWeGo, Wor Flags and Wor Hyem).

A co-ordinated boycott has to be the way to go if they really want to make a difference. No plan of action thus far on their site like.

Quote:
31st July 2018

Dear Mr. Ashley,

You hold the hopes, expectations and fate of all Newcastle United fans in your hands. It has been over ten years
of broken promises, lies and deceit. Two relegations, the embarrassment of Joe Kinnear and everything before,
after and in between. Surely now - enough is enough?

Over the last six months a number of meetings and discussions have taken place between many Newcastle fan
groups and organisations. We now all come together under one banner, The Magpie Group, and we are united in
our common desire for Newcastle United to be a club to be proud of at the heart of our local community.
In May 2015 you said "from this day forward we will be making our own luck." These empty words have not been
backed up with actions and relegation, once again, soon followed. It is clear now that it is in the best interests of
both you and the future of Newcastle United that the club is sold.

We cannot speculate on the terms of takeover talks but we know from credible sources that talks have taken
place and bids have been made. We cannot comment on the factors which must be taken into account in order to
value the club but a number of things are now clear.

The new TV deal has been agreed and Newcastle United is in need of a major rebuilding project, from urgently
required investment in the first team playing squad, to the need for significant investment to bring the club's
training facilities and academy up to an acceptable standard following over ten years of neglect on your watch.
If one word could sum up Newcastle United it is potential. A potential you have no interest in. We now have a
world class manager in Rafa Benitez who has united the fans for the first time in a long time, but this alone is not
enough to counteract chronic neglect and under-investment under your ownership.

We need an owner that is prepared to back Rafa Benitez, not only by investing properly in the playing squad but
by backing him to deliver the widespread change needed throughout the club from training ground to academy.
An owner who is not prepared to just release a manager invested in the club, city and community, when the
opportunity arises.

If you cannot attract a buyer that meets your valuation then you must understand that this is because of the
significant amount of investment now required to restore our football club to what it should be.

We have seen the reaction to the #IfRafaGoesWeGo movement and this has acted as a catalyst to bring the
wider fan base together. We are all united in that we will do anything we can, both as groups and together as a
fan base, to drive through a change in ownership.

Over to you, Mike. You have already admitted you are not the man to take the club forward. It is time to sell up
and go.

You are only one man. We are a city.

We are United.
The Magpie Group

Another year another new name under which to campaign.

A camel is a horse designed by committee.

I don't see why you're mocking this given your views like. It might be a total waste of time and come to nothing aye. Or it might not, fuck knows.

Would you prefer it if nobody even attempted to do anything proactive?

I just hate the fact there are so many different fan groups in the first place. They're redundant mostly, with the same aims and desires. Very much a divide and conquer situation I feel.

Uniting them under one banner has to be the final throw of the dice but it won't surprise me a jot if next summer we hear of the "Black and White Magpies United" group wanting to do something.

But this is an attempt to do something about the fragmentation you're moaning about lmao

As I say, who knows if it'll get anywhere. They might all end up arguing with each other in the Irish club and having hissy fits on twitter the next day. Or they might get somewhere with it. Better some people are trying than not.

Nufc.com won't be happy, support the team, not the regime.

Shezza sneers coz she goes to all the local games she can, but hasn't travelled to all the way to Newcastle for a game lmao

Dotcom won't be happy about Benitez' post-match comments last night either given they complained about him 'stirring things up' recently.

He's absolutely laid into Ashley and his lackeys. It's no holds barred, tremendous stuff :greetings-clapyellow: Benitez is clearly well aware that fans are getting very angry just now and, unlike dotcom, I think him stoking the fire is great Smoke I expect a Bishop counteroffensive imminently.

Pete Graves on Sky doing his own research instead of the Bishop propaganda, net spend of £-45m Smoke

Rafa cares, like KK cared, like SBR, not like those arseholes Pardew and Carver who cared about their jobs, they care about NUFC, like everyone willing to do something to make sure there's change.

If there's no change I honestly hope we get relegated and relegated again until Ashley has to sell for £1.

What's 5 years in the wilderness compared to 11 in an Ashley induced purgatory.

Perhaps the world has changed a bit since last boycott attempts, now there's Twitter and easy access to thousands of fans for creating protests, a bit different than the attempts on toontalk lmao lmao

Perhaps there is hope to force the fcb to sell

not tumbleweed

Actually it's more frustrating than then, same thing bigger scale, some say support the team etc, no protests banghead

You'll have a go at me for being negative, but the latest plans appear to be to protest in front of Sports Direct stores on the first day of the season. That was done before wasn't it, to little or no impact?

It's got to be stuff at SJP, especially with Sky cameras there. Empty seats, lots of them. Same as it's always been, it's the only way.

Let's see what TMG's first meeting brings.

Early days. I gather the shop protest is after being in touch with Rangers fans, who reckon they did well with that tactic. Reading between the lines of the bits I've read on twitter, I suspect and hope a co-ordinated boycott is at least under discussion.

My view is the same as everybody else on here, without a boycott / series of boycotts they'll not make much impact. Keeping an open mind for now though.

Liverpool, Rangers, Lazio, any of the clubs who've shown us how to get rid of wankers with sustained pressure on all their business interests can only be good, go after sponsors, get everyone to say they'll leave if Rafa does, cumulative effect.

One thing would be far easier and might work in time for a new owner to come in and keep Rafa, just don't fucking go and don't spend any money, Sports Direct Utd would be in the conference by 2022 if the fat cunt remained a cunt.

In general it just depresses me that suddenly everyone's like "boycott Sports Direct, don't buy anything there" and it's 2018. People should have been boycotting YEARS AGO, if not for NUFC then for the awful business practices they employ. I've not set foot in one for years and never buy from there.

Alas, let's see what TMG have got planned.

Seriously, our fans are fucking idiots. Harping on about Sports Redirect and giving it the big one for buying their kits slightly cheaper at alternative retailers.

Fucking morons, you're still putting money into Ashley's pocket even if you're not funding Sports Direct in the process. Stop putting money into the club if you really want to see change. Sharing pictures en mass of having bought the shirt for £54.90 somewhere else rather than £55 at SD...idiots.

How difficult is it?

Pulled this player bonus stunt before and it lead to the freezing out / selling off of the so-called 'players committee' ringleaders. Did it last season as well but it got defused, apparently after a conversation between Lascelles and Ashley if I remember right. Piss poor management by Ashley/Barnes/Charnley/whoever but what's new?

It's more unrest to go along with Benitez' and the fans' anger at what's going on upstairs. There's effectively an internal war going on at the club. Good, I hope it continues Smoke

It's actually difficult to imagine how this summer could have been handled worse by the club lmao
