Going to be heavy going if Benitez isn't given the resources to improve this squad. While I'm sure we'll improve on yesterday as new players bed in, you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. We need at least three quality signings and in today's market the going rate's generally £20mil+. Confining the manager to the bargain basement will end up with us in another bottom third grind, and probably cost us a far better manager than anyone we could attract after him.

There's not enough goals in the squad and the keeper's shite - a recipe for disaster. Fucking bollocks from Ashley, as usual.

He can spout what he likes but most media commentary on this I've read or heard has been to the effect that Benitez is not getting the backing he needs to make us competitive in the PL. Anyone who doesn't agree with that is just plain fucking wrong.

Can't agree Finny. I suspect Barton's angle is he's about done as far as playing goes so he needs to earn his corn being a 'controversial' mouth in the media. Talksport is pure toilet, perfect for him really as he's Mr Soundbite.

'You've got what you've got' is plain trite. Benitez is fighting his corner and I'm glad he's letting us as fans know the crack myself. Just as I was with Keegan doing it. I'd be very surprised if any player felt in any way undermined by the things Benitez has said, and if any are tough shit you thin-skinned, oversentive, millionaire mediocre player Smoke

We should have gone for Icheanacho, a player of that ilk. £20-25m but that's the going rate. Pay for it against future TV money like every other cunting club around us is.

I really don't see where our goals will come from with Gayle and Mitrovic as our main strikers. Time for Mitro to turn that "passion, he loves the place" into actual fucking goals and performances.

As another fucking miserable season draws to a close, it looks like six or seven points tops keeps us up for certain - 37 is the average needed. We should get them like. Then all we have is the hope Staveley & co come back in  If not surely some club will fancy Benitez and we go back to our now familiar meaningless existence as a club. Woohoo.

Looking at the clubs around us West Ham look to have the hardest set of fixtures so I've just took them, Stoke and WBA :laughing-rolling: to go at 8/1.

Aye they do and they've looked fairly crap every time I've seen them. Loads of possible outcomes yet - Stoke might get a couple of results, Huddersfield or Swansea might bomb, who knows? West Brom are fucked though Smoke Might be wrong, just a daft bet on a pick :confusion-shrug:

Never whinged once me  We look safe now after yesterday like. And Slimani actually played, was beginning to think he'd never kick a ball for us.

Cue renewed takeover talk, renewed hope for us, a couple of months of contradictory media speculation, 43 million twitter arguments, a Sky interview with Ashley and fuck all changing come next season lmao Smoke

Aye not worth bothering with it now, safe as houses. On to takeover talk tittle tattle till something or nothing happens.

On that subject, there's an ITK on N-O claiming he wrote to Staveley and she's called him back several times. His evidence is proof of purchase for sending the letter lmao The only one believing him is former poster of wors owld Manorpark the cat lover / local historian (he's actually most impressive in this latter guise, as his many informative posts on Skyscrapercity show).

Anyway, takeover back on then. Howay Obi, get your ITK head on again Smoke

I don't know but apparently he does want to sell and actively tried to not long back, unless the whole thing is a charade (not out of the question with a cunt like him). We can but hope.

it is quite significant chunk of his wealth, if he gets the rumoured 350mil in cash

i think he could do a lot with it in the retail biz expansions and get better profits with that money, although we dont know actual figures how this 11 years has profited him..

Simm, why is the HMRC case taking so long? Be good to get that sorted either way so that it's another conditional aspect of a potential offer cleared up.

HMRC take an age to do anything, a victim of the Conservative's austerity themselves, hugely understaffed, over-worked and fucking useless.

We could be bang to rights and I'd bet they'd fuck it up.

Everton and Watford to play, two teams that are around us. Beat Everton especially and you've got to think 9th at least is achieveable.

The bubble will burst soon though - Perez isn't scoring every game.

Can see us beating Everton and West Brom, perhaps I was being cautious with my 45 points prediction?

Wonder if the Rafa out moaning cunts might finally give him a break in his third full season, dipshits.

If Benitez went I wouldn't put it past Ashley to bring Pardew back. He's got previous for worse.

Higgins and Williams are my two favourite players on the circuit so I wasn't too bothered. Great match.

Aye looking at it you're right, Huddersfield are very slight favourites but not by much. I'd have fancied them maybe to nick a point off Arsenal last day but that's Wenger's final game in charge and his players might respond to give him a good send off.

Spuds the neet. In the old days there's already be about eight separate ongoing exchanges with the SN lot, most involving Obi lmao
